Let’s talk about the sorting hat.
I’ve had quite a few of my non-Potterhead friends ask me what the whole deal with sorting is.
“The evil people go to Slytherin, and the heroes go to Gryffindor, right?”
“Why are you happy with being a Hufflepuff? Aren’t they the loser house?”
“So if only the smart people go into Ravenclaw, why is Hermione in Gryffindor?”
NO!!! That’s not how it works!!!
The Houses are set up by what the person thinks is the most important quality.
But honestly, I can’t explain it any better than the folks on tumblr. So below you will find photos of posts originally found on tumblr, and definitely not mine, that show in more detail the meaning behind the houses of Hogwarts.
And a few posts from elsewhere on the internet, courtesy of Google, that give shameless plugs to the best house ever: Hufflepuff, obviously.
Another idea is that the houses are designed to sort people into groups based on the way they view magic in general:
As a finishing statement, here is a long photo that shows the different nuances between the houses, namely what the founders seemed to be sorting students as.
And how lovely it is to be in Hufflepuff.
I am a Hufflepuff.
Anyone who knows me realises how obvious this is, one they understand what a Hufflepuff really is.
We are not the weak and useless house.
We are strong in so many ways.
And we are not to be underestimated.
