in the Valleys of the Noble Beyond by John Zada

First of all, thank you to NetGalley.com, author John Zada, and my friends at Grove Atlantic and Atlantic Monthly Press for the opportunity to read this Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for a honest review. This book hits the shelves on July 2, 2019.

And now for the review….

I started this book with no real idea of what it was about. Was it fact, fiction, or hopeful supposition?

What I found was beautiful descriptions of the Canadian wilderness and Pacific Northwest. Zada brought to life the Sasquatch legend in all of its different qualities. He referenced the Yeti, abominable Snowman, the forest devil, and bush Indians. He took the time to research the local lore and Indigenous people of the area and included everything they told him, no matter how far-fetched it seemed.

The scenery in this book was breathtaking, I only wish that there were some pictures to o with it. The well-researched and reasoned facts and stories throughout were fantastic to read through. Zada made sure to include all types of witnesses into this account, from Indigenous villagers and backwoods guides, to teachers and students on school trips, and even Teddy Roosevelt.  He even include his own tales which really helped the narrative.

I really enjoyed that Zada made sure to stay impartial throughout the novel. He didn’t come out and say “Yes, there is such thing as Sasquatches and here’s the proof.” Instead, he gave many examples, ideas, and first-hand accounts that could lead anyone to believe whatever they want to believe. Zada presented the facts. It’s your job to do what you want with them.

Definitely a great book overall, and I once again thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC and dive into the legend of the Sasquatch.
