the Murders of Molly Southbourne by Tade Thompson

Every time she bleeds a murderer is born. Experience the horror of Tade Thompson’s The Murders of Molly Southbourne. A finalist for the 2017 BSFA Award, the 2017 Shirley Jackson Award.

The rule is simple: don’t bleed.

For as long as Molly Southbourne can remember, she’s been watching herself die. Whenever she bleeds, another molly is born, identical to her in every way and intent on her destruction.

Molly knows every way to kill herself, but she also knows that as long as she survives she’ll be hunted. No matter how well she follows the rules, eventually the mollys will find her. Can Molly find a way to stop the tide of blood, or will she meet her end at the hand of a girl who looks just like her?

This was such an interesting tale that I was not expecting.

I received this novel for free at some point and it has been sitting on my kindle for a couple years. Well, no more!

I started this novel with no expectations and without reading the synopsis. I greatly enjoyed it, partly because of this.

Molly Southbourne is special. Anytime she bleeds another Molly comes to visit. Sometimes they try to kill her, other times they just want companionship. But always, they have to go.

The writing was so very engaging. Once I started, I could not put this book down. the author did an amazing job with giving just enough information to leave me on the edge of my seat, unable to summon the patience to find out what happens next.
